Collect Call description
Collect Call is a turn-based tactical roguelike set in a grim cyberpunk future where survival is temporary, but desire is permanent.
You are an android whose serial number has been retired—obsolete, waiting out the end in a dusty storage unit while cheap rental work grows rarer by the day. Odd jobs used to trickle in. Then even that dries up. Just as you begin to accept the quiet inevitability of being recycled, a payphone in the lobby rings late at night. You pick it up, expecting one last mechanical gig. Instead, a flat, toneless voice offers work under vague terms drenched in innuendo. The pay is insulting: twenty-one dollars. And yet you take it—because you have to.
In Collect Call, every run is a descent into close-quarters violence and desperate accumulation. Combat is tight and brutal, fought in confined spaces where each encounter plays like a puzzle: positioning, timing, and resource management matter as much as raw power. You will carve through humans and constructs alike—criminals, terrorists, and rot baked into the system—carrying out jobs for mysterious benefactors in a world on the brink of collapse.
Progress is built through a deep, interwoven library of cards. Build your deck, unlock new abilities, and push past the limitations of your synthetic body. Your attacks can be precise or catastrophic, ranging from bone-breaking strikes to reckless self-destruction. The guardrails are optional—and often removed.
Between fights, feed the other hunger: the need to purchase and collect. Scavenge and acquire plastic trinkets and strange odds-and-ends, then arrange them inside your storage unit. Placement matters. Through the mystical logic of feng-shui, decoration becomes strategy, turning junk into power and your cramped room into a personal engine of survival.
The world isn’t just a battleground. Visit human shopkeepers, read the backs of cereal boxes, and piece together a setting filled with intrigue and looming change. Something new is approaching, and you have a place in it—if you can outlast the limits of a material body built to fail.
You will die. And you will die again and again. And each time, you’ll come back with new tools, new choices, and the same ringing phone.
Soundtrack: an electric, distorted, computerized pulse that keeps every decision feeling orchestrated and inevitable.
