Taking Today Off description

Taking Today Off

A light-hearted roguelike deck-builder where you draw cards that represent different “life states,” then mix in stickers and tools to build a setup that feels just right. Some cards deal damage, some keep you alive, and some are there purely to stir up chaos. The core loop is simple: draw cards, place them on the board, then press Play. But as the challenge grows, the decisions get sharper: where to place each card, which sticker goes first, whether a tool should shield one card or heal another, and whether to push your luck this turn or play it safe.

Core Gameplay

  • Draw cards and position them on the board to trigger powerful chain reactions — critical hits, combos, splash damage, counterattacks, and stuns.
  • Combine three resource types—Cards, Stickers, and Tools—to shape stats, ranges, and special effects.
  • Navigate a variety of encounters with every run feeling fresh and unique.

Why it feels compelling

  • Each build is like planning a tiny daily escape — fewer chores, less work, social obligations paused.
  • No two runs are the same: different cards, stickers, tools, and encounters lead to varied strategies and outcomes.
  • Progress comes from practice: improve from simple placement to precise positioning and thoughtful planning.

Key Features

  • Cards + Stickers + Tools—freely combine to shape stats, ranges, and effects.
  • Random encounters and rewards that create new opportunities and challenges with every upgrade.
  • Positioning matters: placing the same card in different slots changes tempo and impact.
  • Multiple builds and synergies unlock as you progress, inviting exploration and experimentation.
  • Bright, cute presentation with a colorful 2.5D pixel-art style and a playful tone.
