POOLSIDE VIGIL description
POOLSIDE VIGIL — A moment stolen, a world erased
POOLSIDE VIGIL is a psychological horror-puzzle experience born from a real moment of digital indifference. While traveling, you witness a fatal fall and confront a stark truth: the glow of a screen can dull the conscience in an instant. The game turns that moment into a silent scream, inviting you to explore what — and who — is lost in that second.
In this endless labyrinth of remorse, you search for fragments of a vanished reality. The poolscape continually reshapes itself after each failure: new corridors, shifting rooms, and unknown exits. You can never memorize the layout; memory itself is unreliable here, forcing you to rely on fragments you leave behind as you press onward.
A relentless presence stalks you. “The Stare” moves only when you look away. Keep your eyes fixed on it, for the moment you blink, it closes the gap; look away, and it creeps closer. There is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide — your gaze becomes your only weapon in this cat-and-mouse quietus.
Escaping requires more than speed: you must interact with the world through physics-based puzzles. Using Unreal Engine 5’s physics, you push and pull heavy objects, reveal hidden passages, and solve logic-based challenges with environmental items. Crucially, you can rearrange objects and create a personal trail, marking places you recognize so you can say, “I’ve been here before.” In this ever-shifting maze, every trace you leave may be your last beacon to survival.
POOLSIDE VIGIL is being crafted as a pure solo experience by Glare Games, aimed at delivering striking visuals and immersive sound that amplify the emptiness of modern life. The creator’s hope is to someday add a multiplayer mode, letting friends collaborate to resolve random events and mysteries that appear throughout the map.
The game draws inspiration from internet phenomena, liminal spaces, found footage, and the Backrooms “Poolrooms” lore. It honors Jared Pike’s contributions to poolroom aesthetics while building a fresh, introspective experience.
Question at the core: What did you truly lose in that one second? Poolsider vigil invites you to confront that void, navigate by memory etched in objects, keep your eyes on the unseen, and decide what remains when the screen flickers back to life.
