DungeonOS description
DungeonOS
Step into a fantasy world where you are a retired adventurer who now runs a bustling adventure guild. Your mission is to assemble a capable crew and отправить them into a series of dungeons to uncover five legendary artifacts. Each expedition is a high-stakes run: if a member falls, all of their equipment and loot is lost with them, making every choice and every risk weighed carefully.
Core gameplay loop
Navigate through dungeons presented inside a retro operating system. Combat unfolds through a puzzle/match-3-like system that rewards planning, pattern recognition, and strategic targeting. During encounters you’ll earn loot and equipment that you can immediately equip onto your adventurers. Use the gold you harvest to upgrade your guild's capabilities, expanding your roster, improving morale, and accelerating your progress. Completing quests adds fresh rewards, unlocks new routes, and reveals additional opportunities to grow your team.
Progression, gear and customization
Artifacts are hidden behind increasingly difficult dungeons, each guarding its own trials and puzzles. Clearing these challenges yields gold and a trove of items to strengthen your party. The workshop lets you refine equipment and craft upgrades, enabling heavier hitters, tougher defense, and longer missions. Equip your adventurers with the gear you acquire, tailor their loadouts to fit evolving dungeon types, and push deeper into the system-driven wilderness.
Gimmicks, OS aesthetic and atmosphere
Interact with a variety of gimmicks found within the operating system-inspired world. The interface and environment blend classic fantasy themes with quirky, hardware-inspired features that encourage experimentation, clever problem-solving, and careful resource management. The nostalgic vibe is not just cosmetic—it shapes how you approach each expedition and the way you plan your guild’s growth.
Audio-visual experience
DungeonOS delivers a retro soundtrack crafted using the original Sega Genesis sound chip. The Mega MIDI Synthesizer by Aidan Lawrence, along with other hardware synths containing old console chips, creates an authentic analog feel. No digital VSTs—only hardware synthesis to preserve the classic, warm tones that defined a generation of games.
Developer and craft
Grave Hammer Games is a small, family-run studio. The team centers on a dedicated programmer who builds the game, with the creator’s father producing all music and sound effects in a studio filled with hardware synthesizers. This intimate setup fuels a cohesive design and a heartfelt, nostalgic soundscape that complements the gameplay.
Ready your guild, manage risk, and chase the artifacts. The deeper you go, the richer your rewards—and the more precious each decision becomes.
