That is not the ball! description

That is not the ball!

That is not the ball! turns a simple forest stroll into a fast‑paced typing challenge. Your loyal dog wanders among shadowy trees while lurking monsters close in. Your mission is clear and risky: keep your dog safe and catch the ball by typing accurately and quickly.

Type the displayed words to launch rockets and push back enemies before they reach you. Each correct keystroke advances you toward safety; one wrong letter can tilt the balance and put you in danger.

Sprint with SHIFT to move faster and progress through the forest, but stay focused—the faster you go, the higher the chance of a costly mistake.

Track your progress with the built‑in scoreboard and explore both story and endless modes. You’ll see enemies defeated, letters typed, time survived, and mistakes made, helping you measure improvement across sessions.

Four distinct difficulty levels

  • Good Boy! (Easy) — No punishments for mistakes.
  • That’s my puppy! (Normal) — One letter will be reset for each mistake.
  • Catch the ball... (Hard) — One mistake and you must retype the whole word.
  • That’s NOT my dog! (Evil) — One mistake and it’s game over.

Endless mode asks you to push your limits: how long can you survive, and how far will your score go? Monitor your run with the same detailed statistics to compare attempts across difficulties.

Customization

By default, words are in English, but you can tailor the experience by adding or removing any word to fit your preferences.

Custom word lists are stored in simple text files you can edit:

Windows: "%USERPROFILE%/AppData/Roaming/Dosimada/ThatIsNotTheBall/words.json"

Linux: "~/.local/share/Dosimada/ThatIsNotTheBall/words.json"

Steam: "/steam/common/.local/share/Dosimada/ThatIsNotTheBall/words.json"

Can you handle the Evil difficulty, or will you stay loyal to the Good Boy path? Grab your keyboard, face the forest, and find out.
