ORK description

ORK

ORK is a stage-based 2D side-scrolling action game developed in Japan. The description is translated, but in-game text is Japanese, so players should expect Japanese prompts and UI. Pronounced “O-R-K,” not “orc,” the game delivers a story you’ve never quite seen before as the world’s color begins to fade.

A mysterious blaze erupts from a distant forest after Light, who researches flowers at home for a new medicine, is struck by a thunderous shock. The impact drains color from the area, and Light is joined by the housemate Twin (a Wappen with a gunpowder scent), Meltz (a mysterious lifeform living in a cave), and the magician Magic. Together they rush toward the source of the flames before all color vanishes.

The core of ORK’s gameplay is puzzle-driven action across stages. You must cleverly use a toolbox of five abilities to reach the goal. Some stages restrict which abilities you can use, demanding creative problem solving with the available tools.

  • Hit: Pound enemies and send them flying away.
  • Cut: Slice thin objects and strike hidden spots.
  • Break: Tear walls and rocks apart, revealing paths.
  • Melt: Crouch and become gooey, stretching to reach through tight gaps.
  • Create: Materialize large objects from nothing to aid progress.

The game encourages using the right combination of abilities to advance. For example, certain puzzles require mixing movement with Melt or using Create to overcome obstacles that block the path. The stages are designed to challenge your adaptability as color drains from the world.

Controls (Default):

Keyboard: Z = Confirm / Jump, X = Cancel / Attack, ↑ ↓ ← → = Move, ESC = Menu / Skip Events. The game supports partial key configuration; you can rebind in Settings > Key Config.

Gamepad (Xbox): B = Confirm / Jump, A = Cancel / Attack, Left Stick = Move, Start = Menu / Skip Events.

As you play, the world gradually turns gray—the color of life fading away. Race toward the quake’s source and restore the color before it vanishes, in a story and console experience grounded in Japanese-developed design.
