Sound System description
Sound System
Sound System is a next-generation rhythm platform built for performance, competition, and community. Players sing and shred along to a carefully curated setlist from established and emerging artists, or use innovative creator tools to upload their own music and craft original note charts. Fully customizable visual themes let players design their stages, making every performance uniquely theirs. It’s more than a game—an evolving ecosystem that unites musicians, streamers, and gamers through a shared musical experience.
Gameplay centers on legendary rhythm mechanics reimagined for today’s players: note combos, multiplier climbs, whammy expression, and explosive performance moments designed to help you reach the flow state. The experience emphasizes responsive feedback and momentum, rewarding both precision and stage presence.
Customization and Visuals
Choose from a wide range of backgrounds and curated visual themes, including full-motion videos. Swap interchangeable note highway skins, widgets, and UI skins, and even upload your own backgrounds and videos. Regular DLC drops keep stages fresh with cosmetic upgrades and artist collaborations.
PulseMap Editor
An in-game note chart editor that lets you remix existing charts or upload music to create charts from scratch. Want to perform your own song? PulseMap lets you add music and play it your way.
Content Store
The Content Store puts you in control with premium backgrounds, FX layers, and UI skins. You can also purchase individual songs to grow your library, with regular updates bringing fresh content.
Modes and Instruments
Instruments include bass, guitar, and vocals. Local Single and Multiplayer let you shred solo or form a band with up to two additional players, with all players able to choose any instrument.
Co-Op, Competitive, and Difficulty
Co-Op mode simulates a live band show where better performances boost multipliers and stage effects. Competitive mode pits you head-to-head with friends, controlling your own stage and multipliers.
Difficulties span Easy, Medium, Hard, and Legendary. Easy uses fewer notes on three frets; Legendary uses all five frets, 15+ notes, and techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs, tapping, and up/down strumming. Classic mode offers a casual, forgiving experience, while Pro mode tightens timing windows and ends with a Miss 11 rule, awarding Bronze, Silver, or Gold per note based on accuracy.
Long-Term Vision
At Early Access, core features are available, with plans for online multiplayer and matchmaking, cross-platform support, additional instrumentation, XP and Skill Rating progressions, note chart sharing, cosmetic updates, and an evolving content library—continuing to expand what Sound System can be.
