Sunset Sprinters '98 description

Sunset Sprinters '98

Step into the neon glow of a late 1990s city where every street corner hums with cassette tapes, arcade echoes, and the pressure of a ticking clock. You play as Dante, a broke student racing through sunset streets to MegaHits Video to snag the last copy of A Legend of Time. The mission is urgent, the city is alive, and every sprint could be the difference between a laid-back weekend and a frustrating failure.

Key Mechanics

  • Trash for Cash - Cans litter the route, and every aluminum collection feeds the recycling machine at the end of the level. Cash earned this way buys you rental time and keeps the dream of A Legend of Time alive. If there aren’t cans, there’s no cash, and the mission stalls.
  • Snack Meter Survival - There is no traditional health bar. Your survival depends on constant motion and keeping your Snack Meter topped. If you stop or take a hit, you lose lunch. Stay on the move and gorge on pizza and soda found along the way to stay alive and in the race.
  • The Tunes & The Toys - A SpinDisk player is your power source as you roam town. Find CDs scattered around neighborhoods to boost abilities. When trouble comes, blast through bullies with Hydro Blasters and throw Galaxy Marbles to clear the path and keep momentum.
  • The Mandala Effect - As you push toward the all-nighter, the world begins to glitch. The city folds into dreamlike sequences, shifting memories and warped streets. This isn’t just a chase; it’s a journey through memory and letting go, a surreal layer that challenges perception as you race the clock.
  • Objective - Beat the clock to secure the last copy of A Legend of Time before a rival beats you to it. The race spans sunlit blocks, retro shops, and shadowed alleys, with every step tightening the tension of your weekend fate.

Sunset Sprinters '98 fuses arcade speed with a nostalgic story of memory, aspiration, and the stubborn pull of a weekend soundtrack. Set against a city that blurs the line between game and memory, it invites you to sprint, scavenge, and survive until the credits roll—and to question what you’re willing to let go in order to catch the last flick of the night.
