Sol Protocol description

Sol Protocol — Cooperative Spacecraft Simulation

Sol Protocol challenges a small crew to adapt to ever-changing conditions in the far reaches of space. Up to 3 players take decisive roles aboard a modular starship, where real-time teamwork and strategic planning are essential to survive hostile encounters, scarce resources, and the risks of deep-space exploration.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Pilot: steer the ship, handle navigation, and respond to dynamic space conditions to keep your course and optimize positioning during combat.
  • Gunner: operate weapons and turret systems, choosing the right armaments to counter diverse threats and protect the hull.
  • Captain: oversee ship systems, shields, crew coordination, and the galactic holomap, making high-level decisions to balance risk and reward.

Combat and strategy

Enemies roam the void in procedurally generated formations. Engage with a range of weapons and adaptive tactics, study the battlefield on the holomap, and plan each encounter carefully. Sometimes the best move is to warp out and regroup rather than face total annihilation.

Exploration and resources

Resources are precious and sparse. Venture into forgotten corners of the cosmos to locate abandoned stations and wrecked vessels, harvesting materials needed for maintenance and upgrades. Competition is real—other crews are also hunting for loot, so speed and cooperation matter.

Ship maintenance and upgrades

Keeping the ship afloat is a continuous, rewarding task. Manually repair damaged components by swapping in salvaged parts, and deploy nanobots to affected areas. The ship is fully modular—every system can be damaged, fixed, and upgraded to increase durability or gain powerful new traits.

Key features

  • Cooperative ship management where all players can access core systems (rudder, weapons, shields, holomap).
  • Deep-space exploration with VR-friendly, physical interactions—joystick control, hand tools, and interactive displays.
  • Modular ship design with fully accessible systems for damage, repair, and upgrades.
  • Real-time strategic combat against randomly generated enemies, with meaningful consequences and loot.
  • Online cooperative play for 2–3 players, each taking a distinct role to maximize teamwork and efficiency.
