On the open seas, sailors tell tales of a ship crewed by the dead, flying a black flag of piracy. A skeletal army haunts its hold, waiting to strike unwary vessels and steal their treasure. They whisper the name of their captain: Skull Queen, a ruthless hunter of the seas whose legend is as much a product of showmanship as of steel. She spared no expense to craft that image: weapons, cannons, clothes, hats, boots, jewelry, couches, drapes—and most of all, a crown jewel of a ship, The Coccyx Avenger. To cover a lavish lifestyle, she borrowed huge sums from unsavory characters. Now those loan sharks, led by the crafty Sharktavia, have closed in. There is only one escape: the nearby isle of Catannia. Catannia is ruled by a wealthy class of feline industrialists who recently declared independence. Their vault holds vast wealth, a tempting target for a desperate captain. If Skull Queen can raid Catannia, she saves her ship, protects her crew, and preserves her fearsome reputation.

As SkullPirates, you lead a crew through Catannia’s distinct regions, meeting a diverse cast of strange, often silly animal-inspired characters and dozens of enemies who all crave the treasure you carry. Your mission is to locate the treasury vault, plunder valuables, and deliver the loot back to the Skull Queen to unlock new power and new areas to explore. The deeper you go, the more valuable the loot, and the greater the rewards, which expand your options for combat, stealth, and exploration.

Treasure unlocks tactical upgrades: equipment choices extend your SkullPirate’s abilities, while unlockable clothing items provide passive bonuses that adjust movement speed, attack power, damage resistance, and other stats. Collect matching items to assemble a full costume with extra effects, or mix and match parts to craft your own distinctive look. Each piece changes how you fight and move, letting you tailor your pirate to your preferred playstyle.

SkullPirates shines in local cooperative play: invite friends to join the raid, coordinate strategies, and tackle Catannia together. The shared quest lines reward teamwork with unique weapons and cosmetics that enhance your crew's synergy.
