ComingHome description
ComingHome
ComingHome is a narrative-focused adventure that opens with the prologue of the larger story, Return Home. It blends a strong visual novel vibe with a single, striking gameplay hook, inviting players to uncover truth through dialogue, atmosphere, and choice.
Core concept
The game centers on a unique ritual-based mechanic: red beans. Traditionally believed to ward off evil spirits, red beans are the game’s only weapon, delivering a red bean bomb action experience on the eighth day. This ritual combat sits beside quiet, character-driven moments to create a distinctive tension between ritual power and personal stakes.
Setting and lore
Long ago, a terrifying demon named Baekmyeongwi—the Hundred-Faced Demon—lured and corrupted people by disguising itself as familiar figures. Those who fell into corruption became demons, enslaved under its control. Exorcist Biundam fought a losing battle and sacrificed his life to seal the demon, yet the seal is incomplete. Because of this imperfection, Baekmyeongwi retains a faint power to influence reality and seeks a victim who can finish its release. The story follows So-eun, a bright and cheerful high school girl who loves animals—especially cats—who becomes ensnared in the demon’s trap, drawn into a mystery that tests trust, home, and identity.
Characters
- So-eun: The optimistic high school girl whose curiosity pulls her into a dangerous, otherworldly game.
- Baekmyeongwi: The Hundred-Faced Demon, charming and dangerous, whose disguises conceal a vast, corrupting power.
- Cat: A mysterious creature whose true allegiance remains unclear, offering possible aid or peril.
Gameplay and mood
Expect a strong narrative focus with dialogue-driven scenes and choices that steer the story. The world blends myth and modern life, delivering atmospheric moments as So-eun navigates the demon’s lingering influence. The eighth day introduces a rare, ritual-powered combat sequence, balancing quiet storytelling with sudden, ritualized action.
Why play
Fans of story-driven experiences will find ComingHome compelling for its emotional core, memorable characters, and a unique blend of visual novel pacing with a ritual-based combat twist. It explores home, trust, and identity against an ancient, elusive threat, inviting players to uncover what it truly means to come home again.
