The Adventure of Fred - The traveler's dial - description
A RACE AGAINST DARKNESS
The Adventure of Fred — The traveler's dial draws you back to RPG roots: unforgiving, with no hand-holding, and built for players who read the map and trust their wits. You explore a vast, procedurally generated world where time never rests and every choice echoes in the shadows.
The Growing Threat: the world evolves as you play. If you linger to farm resources, dungeon bosses grow stronger. To blunt their power, you must strike at minion camps and erode their defenses—or watch progress slip away as darkness tightens its grip.
Survival Must Be Earned: there is no auto-regeneration. Each night is a test of nerve and skill, where missteps become the shadows that haunt the next day.
Campsite Management: at night you face survival tests—Fire, Cooking, Healing—to recover your mental state and health. Fail the camp and doom awaits the following dawn.
Limited Resources: hunt, fish, and gather what the land yields. Markets offer powerful gear, but prices are brutal for a beginner adventurer stepping onto the map.
Light Is Your Weapon: twelve dungeons hold the fragments of the Traveler's Dial, yet they lie plunged in total darkness. In the dark, your dexterity and agility drop to zero—your hits and dodges vanish. Torches cannot be bought; you must understand the game's ecosystem, hunt specific creatures, and master crafting to glimpse what hides in the shadows.
A World of Secrets: narrative and randomness intertwine. Riddles, multiple-choice encounters, and mysterious NPCs scatter the map, inviting you to read between the lines and shape your path.
Free Progression: blocked caves and unknown points of interest await your exploration. Place your own manual markers so you never lose a discovery. It is up to you to map and understand this world—no one will hold your hand.
Will you reassemble the Traveler's Dial or vanish forgotten in a dark cave?
