Armita's Search: Story-Driven Tactical Deckbuilder description

Armita’s Search — Description

Armita’s Search is a story‑driven tactical roguelite deckbuilder that follows a young girl in a post‑apocalyptic world as she searches for her kidnapped father, aided by a nanny‑bot. It blends visual novel storytelling—strong characters, branching choices, multiple endings, and dialogues—with strategic deckbuilding and turn‑based combat. You guide Armita through the Barrens, a landscape scarred by alien terraforming and ruined by raiders, meeting inhabitants, facing hardships, and witnessing strange wonders.

Your decisions shape Armita’s Humanity, which in turn affects available actions, how the world treats you, and which ending you reach. “Being kind is hard mode”: mercy can come at a price, while cruelty may simplify survival but costs humanity and future outcomes.

Core mechanics at a glance:

  • Deckbuilding and combat: Up to five fighters per side. Allies and enemies act at the end of the turn, with telegraphed actions giving you a full turn to adapt. Expect varied attack patterns—melee, range, area effects, buffs, debuffs—and use cover as a temporary safeguard. Three card types drive the flow: companions (named characters with a 4‑card mini‑deck and synergy), items (weapons and tools with unique mechanics), and troubles (thirst, breakdowns, radiation, illness) that test your planning.
  • Region‑based progression and replayability: The Barrens are divided into regions. Each region starts with a quick build: Armita’s preset (new presets unlocked as she grows and your moral path evolves) and two companions (new ones unlock through story and random encounters). Every preset and companion brings three signature cards, giving you an initial 12‑card deck. If you can’t clear a region, you restart with a different preset, different companions, and a new strategy for that region’s enemies and boss. Runs vary, shaping stories, enemies, and outcomes.
  • Resources and world interaction: Every move costs resources. Shortages flood your deck with Trouble cards, making battles harder. You may encounter guarded merchants to trade or, if Humanity is low, to rob.
  • Companions and storytelling: Companions are more than stat boosters; they carry stories, goals, and evolving personalities that react to your Humanity. They can join, contribute their mini‑decks, or perish, altering your path.

The game sits in the Raiders World—a stylized 2D wasteland with a gritty comic‑book vibe where your choices define who Armita becomes. Expect a multi‑ending campaign, evolving paths across regions, and a world that responds to your humanity as you grow from child to survivor in a universe that blends board game origins with a narrative deckbuilder.
