Dawn Village description
Dawn Village
Dawn Village is a Joseon-era survival strategy game set during a great famine. You are not a hero or a commander—just a person trying to keep a village from breaking apart under hunger and disease. Every decision tests humanity, resourcefulness, and resolve as the community endures one day at a time.
In this world, luck is not merely a backdrop—dice decide fate. Major choices are resolved with a roll, and the same decision can yield different outcomes in each playthrough. Who steps forward, the condition of the people, and the current circumstances all shape the result. Success eases the burden; failure costs resources or invites greater danger. The consequences ripple days later, influencing morale, health, and chances of survival.
Managing people is as crucial as managing supplies. Each companion has character, strengths, and weaknesses. Hunger drains strength; constant danger gnaws at morale. Some crises sharpen abilities, but growth always comes with anxiety. You assign roles, balance rest, and decide who dares to venture where. You cannot shield everyone forever, and difficult choices—perhaps letting someone go—are part of the cost of keeping others alive.
A day in Dawn Village unfolds through six phases, shaping the rhythm of survival:
- Roll Call: distribute food, steady morale, and, if needed, send someone away.
- First Incident: something happens inside the village—security responds, fights may erupt, resources shift, or a new companion may appear.
- Journey: companions tasked with exploring and gathering face danger, combat, or unexpected events.
- Environmental Incident: an unavoidable background event tests the village’s resilience.
- Maintenance: crafting, caring for the wounded, or preparing for tomorrow; you may also develop the village.
- Final Incident: the day ends with one last event that can quiet the village or seal its fate for now.
There are no truly good or evil choices. Stability today can limit possibilities tomorrow, and a seemingly minor decision may return later in unexpected ways. You must endure what you choose to endure.
Dawn Village offers no fixed strategy. Each run presents new events, different dice rolls, and shifting companion conditions. The measure of your journey is not victory but what you sacrificed and what you learned to carry forward in a living record of survival.
