Carte Blanche description

Carte Blanche — an evolving point-and-click adventure

Carte Blanche is a narrative, card-driven adventure built as a point-and-click experience. Your goal is to grow the story, expand the world, and develop a cast of characters by collecting and upgrading cards. Use these cards to beat tournaments that resemble strategic chess matches, win unique prizes, and unlock new challenges as you progress through the game’s universe.

The setting places you in another time and world where magic and the extraordinary thrive. For now, you remain in your village, unable to depart, while two children who share a powerful bond guide you toward an extraordinary journey. You play as the young hero in this prototype, while the female acolyte is not yet playable. The adventure invites you to discover the true power hidden in your cards as you travel through a world that gradually reveals its secrets.

Core gameplay centers on collecting cards, improving them, and using their abilities in tournaments to showcase strategy, wit, and timing. Each victory advances the story and opens paths to new challenges, while exploration uncovers lore, characters, and surprising twists. The tournaments are designed to test your planning and adaptability, with rewards that influence both the narrative and available card options.

This project is presented as an early access prototype with simplified mechanics and a clear path for growth. The current scope is intentionally focused so players can participate in the world’s construction and provide feedback that will shape future updates. The trailer illustrates the visible possibilities: card collection, card upgrades, tournaments, and the sense that the world becomes richer the more you explore.

Development plans emphasize expanding interactivity and continuity: more cards and powers, a fuller story progression with additional characters, and a version where the female lead becomes playable. Expect a larger, non-repeating environment, more clickable objects, and deeper environmental customization. A richer soundscape and music system are also planned to enhance immersion and mood.

Visually, Carte Blanche uses a hand-drawn aesthetic with anime-inspired shading and lighting, crafted through custom shaders to achieve a distinctive two-dimensional look. Characters, creatures, and monsters are animated with aim to maximize expressivity, while sounds—built with free tools and spatialized where appropriate—create an atmospheric, living world. The playable game is planned to be released as soon as possible, inviting players to join in its ongoing creation.
