Two Ways to Play

Story Mode delivers a focused, cinematic experience: you relax into the story, skip complex systems, and enjoy the dialogue, choices, and mood without the distraction of stats, currencies, or combat.

Game Mode begins at chapter 5 and puts you in Absinthe’s boots. Traverse maps around cryptid-infested Portland, Oregon, slay monsters to earn gold, and build your arsenal from weapons and potions. Battle-tested play becomes a core part of the journey, while still letting you savor the narrative and character dynamics that define the Anaxverse.

Loot, Power, and Consequence

Gold buys you tools at the House of Haggle, a whimsical shop run by the scheming hobgoblin Hobs Hornswaggle. Acquire weapons and potions that unlock new tactics and survivability. Some items deliver dramatic, instant effects—silver bullets that pierce a werewolf’s guard, for example—while potions empower Absinthe with boosted stats for tougher encounters. After each hunt you can refine your combat style or lean into the Blood Suit, a path of corruption that grants greater powers at a price.
