Help Is On The Way description

Help Is On The Way

Help Is On The Way is a compact sci‑fi security simulation designed as a roughly ten minute experience. You play as Kassandra, a security officer stationed behind a malfunctioning terminal in a remote mining facility. When a critical fault erupts, your coworker Conor must push through the facility’s labyrinthine corridors alone, while you guide him from the security room using a network that can falter at any moment. The goal is urgent: Conor needs to finish the remaining work before the escape pod can launch, and your success hinges on keeping him alive long enough to reach safety.

Inside the facility, an unseen threat now stalks the halls. An alien presence lurks in the shadows, turning ordinary workflows into a deadly game of timing and tension. If Conor is captured or killed, both of your lives are over, and the day ends in failure. The stakes are high because you can influence Conor’s path only through the unstable systems at your command.

From your terminal you’ll shuttle between security cameras, environmental readouts, and access logs to monitor hazards, locked-down zones, and signs of the creature. You can remotely open, close, and lock doors to shape Conor’s route, shield him from danger, or seal off threats—if the systems permit. Each action reshapes the map you both inhabit, dictating where Conor can go and which paths remain safe.

But the terminal never stays calm. The systems are overheating and will shut you out unless you cool them manually, forcing you to juggle motionless feeds with frantic maintenance. The unstable view creates blind spots and time pressure, so you must act quickly and decisively even as feeds degrade. Your ability to keep the corridor map updated hinges on keeping hardware alive long enough to guide Conor toward the pod.

Corporate protocols add another layer of pressure. Many actions require signing access papers or obtaining authorization, a bureaucratic hurdle that slows you when every second matters. Limited information, faltering hardware, and procedural delays collide, pushing you to balance risk and restraint as you shepherd a colleague through a deadly workday.

Help Is On The Way emphasizes strategy over brute force: you influence the outcome by managing what you can see, opening or closing routes, and maintaining the integrity of the terminal. The mission is clear and tense: keep Conor alive, finish the day’s work, and ensure the pod can launch. All of this hinges on your ability to keep the terminal operational long enough for help to arrive.
