Blemdeck — a multiplayer deckbuilding, destroying trick-taking game

Blemdeck is a 3-6 player game that combines deckbuilding with devious trick-taking. Start with a standard deck and transform it with stickers and stationery as you play. You can invite friends or challenge NPCs, and each round reshapes your strategy as the deck evolves.

How to play

Like Hearts, players are dealt a hand and take turns playing a card to determine who wins the trick. The first played card sets the leading suit; everyone must follow if possible. The highest card of the leading suit wins the trick and leads the next. If you can’t follow suit, you may play any card, including ones that secretly hurt opponents by increasing their penalties. The round ends when a player reaches zero points, and the winner is the player with the most points remaining.

Blemming and customization

Between rounds you can buy sticker sheets and booster packs to Blemm your deck. This is where the game really opens up: you ruin your own cards to influence outcomes and bend the rules in your favor. You can:

• Mess with suits by covering up pips to lower a card’s value or to change how it behaves in tricks
• Add extra pips to force you to win a trick, gaining all the effects of the played cards
• Apply stickers with special effects that create powerful synergies

Examples of effects include:

• Treasure Hoard —invest in a card for greater impact
• Ouroboros —every card counts twice
• Shaken Soda Bottle —explode in an opponent’s hand
• Cherry On Top — a flavorful bonus on certain cards

You can radically change a card’s identity: a Three of Diamonds can gain a Clubs sticker to become a Four of Diamonds; a Ten of Hearts can become a Two of Hearts with a special sticker, and even a regular card can be upgraded to a Queen with the Princess sticker. A rank can override any number of pips, and the leading suit still governs tricks.

Progression and strategy

Between rounds, you expand your options by buying sticker sheets, booster packs with rare stickers, and more cards to Blem. Build a growing inventory to unleash creative Blemming combinations when it matters most.

Endgame

The mix of traditional trick-taking and deck modification creates tense moments as players race to avoid accumulating points. Strategic Blemming, timely tricks, and clever use of stickers determine who leaves the game with the most points at the end.
