Whispering Ledger description

Whispering Ledger

Welcome to Valencia, a bustling hub in the neutral nation of Dalren, where two warring empires vie for influence. You are a merchant whose greatest motivation has been money, and your quiet island hometown’s success has carried you to the city’s largest market. Your store sits at the crossroads of deals, loyalties, and danger, and every choice could push you toward astonishing wealth or ruinous consequences.

Build Relationships to Increase Profits — You are the seller, but success depends on a web of vendors, contracts, and friendships. You’ll meet a cast of distinctive characters who shape your business and your fate:

  • Ashura: Your Adventurer's Guild liaison who organizes expeditions to procure precious materials.
  • Balae: A drowsy librarian from the Scholar Association who gathers research to unlock new expedition destinations.
  • Nicole: An inventive mind crafting new products to sell at a tidy profit.
  • Rat: An enigmatic dealer offering great and terrible deals from every item you’ve encountered.
  • Mia: A disciplined martial artist who ensures you can defend your store and your allies.

The Day of a Merchant revolves around a three-part loop:

  • Before Hours — Set prices, prepare inventory, and review yesterday’s scavenges and expeditions.
  • Business Hours — Price goods, haggle with characters you’ve met, and push your profits in the market.
  • After Hours — Expand your knowledge at the library, train at Mia’s dojo, or trade with Rat for last-minute needs.

Weigh the Risks of Expeditions — You’re a human merchant, not a magic swordsman, so you rely on the Adventurer’s Guild to send teams into forests, caverns, and ruins to gather materials. Move too fast, and you’ll pay medical bills instead of counting profits. As your reputation grows, so does the danger and the competition—popularity amplifies both opportunity and threat.

A Rich Story with Believable Interactions — Actions have consequences, immediate or long-term. Make the wrong choice, antagonize the wrong person, or underestimate the peril, and the story can end abruptly. Your most powerful weapon is your mind and sound judgment, navigating alliances and rivalries as you steer your ledger toward glory.

Features — A character-driven visual novel with meaningful choices, shop management focused on pricing, crafting, and resupply, and faction relationships that explore both professional and personal dynamics. The day-based progression system leads to multiple endings, including early failure states, all enhanced by fully illustrated characters and locations.
