Shadow Rush is an isometric hack-and-slash RPG that centers on fast, interactive combat. You move with WASD, strike with left-click, and dash with right-click. Each attack or dash cycles you through four combat phases (I, II, III, IV). The current phase determines which special abilities you trigger, drawn from your setup. The inventory UI shows I, II, III, IV beside equipment slots to remind you which phase-set is active. This design keeps the action responsive and skill-driven, avoiding a sprawling mess of hotkeys while delivering a focused, hands-on experience rather than a passive auto-battle rhythm. The isometric perspective also emphasizes positioning and crowd control as you weave through foes.

Don’t plan to dodge every hit. Health pickups are plentiful, so stay aggressive and press the attack to clear foes quickly. If you stall too long, a gigantic wave of darkness sweeps across the arena and ends your run. The goal is to maintain pace and pressure, balancing offense and timing to survive the escalating threats within each arena.

Progression unfolds arena by arena. After clearing an arena, you choose a bonus and move on to the next challenge. You can select from six characters, each offering its own approach to the four-phase system and shard synergy. This roster invites experimentation and strategic planning as you adapt to increasingly tough encounters.

Shards are special abilities presented as collectible items. They are easy to equip, de-equip, and swap between characters, letting you tailor your squad on the fly. Build your strategy by crafting a Shard Deck — combine shards to unlock powerful interactions and potentially game-changing combos. The system encourages experimentation, so you can discover unique synergies and develop a pattern that fits your preferred playstyle.
