ALLARA description

Allara

Allara is a pixel-art, dark-fantasy 2D soulslike metroidvania set in 17th-century Yakutia, drawing on authentic pre-colonial Yakut beliefs, mythology, and culture. It blends tight, action-focused exploration with a rich mythic world, where every corner hides a story drawn from deep ethnographic sources.

You awaken in a Yakut cemetery. Your body is dead-rotting, yet it lives. You have no tongue. Your voice is gone. The Yakut army has fallen to western invaders allied with Arsan Duolai, King of the Abaasy-demons ruling the underground worlds. Your un-life may not be a coincidence. Move through a land torn between gods, demons, and mortals, where ancient spirits still rule the skies and the underworlds, and uncover what binds your fate to Yakutia’s fall—and decide how your story ends.

Allara features lore and characters inspired by academic sources on pre-Russian Yakut religion and worldview, brought to life with handcrafted pixel art based on traditional Yakut clothing, jewelry, and symbolism. The original soundtrack draws from traditional, pre-colonial music of Eastern Siberia, amplifying the sense of place and history as you explore.

Explore 16 distinct biomes inspired by the multiple worlds (heavens and underworlds) of Yakut beliefs, facing 21 unique enemies and 11 formidable bosses. The world is designed for discovery, with two endings that reflect the choices you make along the way.

Deep progression opens up new movement abilities, talisman crafting, and weapons enhancements. Four puzzle-based skills unlock hidden paths and secrets, guiding you to deeper areas and harder challenges. Throughout your journey, you’ll encounter 18 NPCs—humans, gods, and demons—each drawn from Yakut tradition, and you’ll tackle 20 micro-quests woven into the fabric of exploration.

The game supports a robust replay experience with a system that accommodates grinding and “cheesing” for players seeking mastery or relief. Difficulty-based achievements are unique to each playthrough, encouraging multiple runs to uncover all possibilities and endings.
