Don't Go Up There description
Don't Go Up There
In a wasteland dominated by a looming mountain, the eccentric recluse Schubert has spent days cocooned in his trash and sleeping, until a violent woodland dog disturbs the sanctity of his refuse. Faced with a new kind of trouble, he sets out to find a solution, venturing into the heart of the mountain where a cave system awaits. The journey is short, eerie, and intimate—a compact adventure that unfolds within a fearsome peak.
As you guide Schubert through twisting passages, you must keep your wits and your balance. The goal isn’t simply to climb, but to move with intention through a maze of underground chambers, where the mountain’s silence can fracture you in an instant. The landscape is alive with strange corners and whispered stories, and danger lurks in every bend as you strive not to shatter into a million pieces.
Along the way, you’ll encounter a cast of locals and strangers who stand between you and the summit. Their rumors, warnings, and small acts of kindness shape the path you choose to take. The shared message from the mountain’s inhabitants is clear and chilling: Don't Go Up There. But curiosity and circumstance pull Schubert forward, and with him you’ll discover what lies beneath the legend of the peak.
Don’t Go Up There is a short, story-driven exploration game focused on a cave system inside an intimidating mountain. You’ll navigate through 12 distinct rooms, each designed to reward exploration with atmosphere, mystery, and meaningful dialogue. The game features 11 interactable characters, each fully animated and bringing the subterranean world to life. The visuals emphasize character, setting, and mood as you move through a tight, handcrafted experience.
The journey is compact—about 30 minutes of gameplay—yet it aims to leave a lasting impression through its pacing, sound, and encounters. An original, fully realized soundtrack by Slogdawg (Sloggermusic) accompanies every step, from the quiet, reflective moments to the mountain’s more unnerving passages. The music and sound design are woven into the experience to heighten the sense of isolation and curiosity as you descend.
Directed by Sloggermusic and Ostrich Mower, Don’t Go Up There combines a distinctive narrative voice with tight, purposeful gameplay. It’s a short, focused adventure about choices, consequences, and the perils of curiosity, set inside a mountain that watches and waits. If you enter, tread carefully—some places are better left unexplored, but the story is one you won’t forget.
