She is a penniless space architecture student who lands a job on the cargo ship Serene to fund her next year of studies. She expects a quiet month-long journey before she can reunite with her family, but the cosmos has other plans.

The voyage is threatened by a constellation of hazards: vampire clan wars, the mosses’ grudge against the captain, a roaming pod of space whales, quarrelsome doriphores among the crew, and plain bad luck that stacks the odds against Adelaide at every turn. Survive these trials and you will have shaped a future; fail, and the universe will write its own ending.

Put your strategic sense to the test and steer Adelaide through the ship’s perilous waters. The game features 100+ skill checks that demand careful planning and quick adaptation. Your success hinges on how you allocate and develop Adelaide’s abilities as the voyage unfolds.

You will manage 30 distinct skills to meet every challenge along the way. From practical talents like flexibility and economics to arcane feats such as inventing runes and other clever actions, every skill matters. The choices you make influence how effectively Adelaide learns, how she adapts to mood shifts, and how past studying habits shape future results.

Each night, you allocate three skill points to the areas you deem most vital. Learning outcomes depend on Adelaide’s mood, the synergy between skills within a category, and her studying history. Your aim is to balance survival with the pursuit of mastery, all while managing interpersonal dynamics among a crew that can push you toward rescue or ruin.

Endings and playstyle

The voyage culminates in a spectrum of possible outcomes. There are seventeen death endings, each reflecting a different path taken through the night-by-night decisions. You can choose to endure the chaos, extracting meaning and small victories, or lean into the upheaval to unlock every grim possibility the cosmos presents.
