The Dreaded Forest description

The Dreaded Forest

The Dreaded Forest invites you to a small but unsettling assignment with A.R.A.D Corporation. You answer an online posting and are hired almost instantly for a five-day stint deep in a forest. The job promises practical work, but the package includes far from TOP SHELF equipment. The forest seems mundane at first, yet something is off. Night never passes when you are outside your new, modest home, and daylight and safety feel unreliable. As you settle into the task, you realize the forest is scripting its own rules, and you must adapt or vanish. Your choices could mean staying alive or losing yourself to the unknown.

Gameplay emphasizes investigation and careful reporting. The map is compact—about 512 by 512 meters—yet it hides countless secrets. Your primary tool is a Drone used to locate anomalies scattered through the woods. When you find an anomaly, you report it by assigning the correct Class and Subclass, testing your knowledge and precision under pressure. Power management and system diagnostics add another layer of challenge: you must keep your gear running and fix errors to continue scanning. The experience is designed as a short horror game, delivering a tense loop of exploration, observation, and decision-making that scales through its endings. In total, you will encounter roughly 100 anomalies to identify and document, creating opportunities for multiple routes through the forest and several close calls along the way.

Endings and replayability. The Dreaded Forest offers five distinct endings, inviting you to uncover the forest's hidden rules and the truth behind A.R.A.D's assignment. Each run can vary based on how you handle anomalies, power issues, and the information you report. The compact scope—short play sessions of around 2 to 3 hours per ending—lets you experience several outcomes, learning from each attempt and planning a new strategy for the next run. The combination of mood, environmental storytelling, and precise reporting mechanics creates a compact horror experience that rewards curiosity and caution. If you are drawn to eerie locales, minimal gear, and the tension of the unknown, The Dreaded Forest offers a focused, immersive challenge.

Atmosphere and design. The Dreaded Forest leans on atmosphere over gore, using sound design, isolation, and environmental storytelling to keep you on edge. The forest map is small but dense, with lurking anomalies and occasional malfunctions that force you to stay vigilant. You will learn to manage limited power, repair drones, and plan routes that maximize anomaly coverage while avoiding hazards. The short play times encourage multiple attempts, each one testing your memory of drone signals, anomaly classes, and the best reporting strategy. By balancing curiosity with caution, you can navigate through the anomaly network, reveal the forest's patterns, and choose your fate across the five endings.
