Shatterlight description
Shatterlight
Shatterlight is a survival horror platformer in which fears take physical form. It tells a story of light that protects and darkness that devours everything alive.
Agnes arrives at an old Victorian mansion with her parents and younger brother Edmond. Soon Edmond begins investigating the vanished owners, and then disappears himself. In search of her brother, Agnes climbs to the attic and passes through a mirror into the Dark World — a distorted reflection filled with fear, madness, and living darkness. The only defense is a shard of a shattered mirror; mirrors are forbidden here because reflected light resists the dark. With the shard, Agnes can reflect light, burn monsters, and open the way forward.
Accompanying Agnes is Shade, a cunning, sarcastic opossum who was once a household pet and now exists as a living shadow in the Dark World. He often complicates things, but his antics still help—in his own way.
The vanished family did not die; they became adepts of the darkness, losing their humanity. Each level mirrors a personal nightmare of a family member, from arachnophobia and twisted insects to deranged dolls, a greenhouse haunted by aggressive plants, and a hospital drenched in fear and helplessness. In the finale, Agnes descends into the basement, where the owner Thorne’s quest for immortality takes terrifying form. There lies a machine built to conquer death—and the deepest madness of the house.
Only Ben, a young inventor among the missing, remained sane. He uncovered the true nature of the darkness and learned to fight it. Through him, Agnes gains access to weapons, tools, and mechanisms that modify how light can be used. You’ll gain new ways to interact with the world, solve puzzles, and confront threats.
Gameplay blends precise platforming, stealth, and chase sequences, with Shade sometimes helping in crucial light-based puzzles. The Dark World shifts between 2D and 3D perspectives, making light manipulation and mirror-based puzzles feel tactile. Boss fights and unique enemies demand careful timing and strategic use of light.
Shatterlight is a survival horror experience focused on atmosphere and tension. The darkness is a living force that senses, hunts, and kills; the mirror and Ben’s inventions are your only weapons against it. Environmental storytelling and scattered notes reveal a world where every fear has a form and every room hides a secret waiting to be illuminated.
