The Buddy Signal is a 3D puzzle platformer that blends precise movement with inventive world manipulation. You control two linked characters, smol and BG, using their unique abilities to solve puzzles and traverse challenging environments.

Play as smol, a small, highly agile platformer hero. Smol enjoys a wide and expressive move set that rewards creativity and skill. You can speed through levels in Time Trial Challenges or find clever, high-skill routes to overcome obstacles. The game is designed to be approachable with basic acrobatics, yet deeply satisfying for players who seek mastery.

Take the role of BG, a large first-person presence who acts as the world’s builder. BG can arrange and orient Objects within the environment, creating structures that smol can use to reach new areas. Objects come in three types—Basic, Stable, and Sticky—each with distinct properties, enabling a variety of puzzle solutions. A robust Cable system connects Machines across the stage, enabling intricate setups and clever interactions.

Puzzles are built from Machines and interactive components. Expect Buttons and Switches, Doors, Laser Emitters, Mirrors and Receivers, Sensors, and a range of Logic Gates (OR, AND, NOT, and more). All puzzles are connected through a hub world by Portals. Each Portal links to multiple Puzzles that you can tackle in any order. Solving challenges with objects and wiring your machines together grants access to new Portals and fresh puzzles.

The hub world serves as a calm base for experimentation, practice, and refinement of both movement and building skills. It’s a place to rehearse techniques, test setups, and plan your route through the interconnected puzzles.

Portals lead to diverse biomes spread across a faraway planet. Each region offers a distinct vibe: lush greenery, wintery snow storms, volcanic ash, and volatile thunderstorms, all set under shifting times of day. Explore a world with a grand planetary ring overhead and a distant black hole looming in the sky, adding a sense of scale and wonder to every challenge.
