MDS: Metro dispatcher simulator description

MDS: Metro Dispatcher Simulator

MDS is a detailed simulator of the Prague Metro interlocking system. Step into the shoes of a dispatcher and take control of signals, switches, and the passenger information system. Your task is to manage traffic with realistic timetables or design your own scenarios to challenge the system and test operations under pressure.

  • IČV interface together with a metro adaptation of the JOP system provide a faithful control environment for routing and signaling decisions.
  • Interlocking simulation recreates the logic that ensures safe movement through junctions and complex track layouts, including realistic track circuits (kolejové obvody).
  • Train dynamics offer smooth movement with adjustable parameters such as acceleration, car length, and maximum speed, allowing you to tune operations to match real-world behavior.
  • Timetable editor (GVD) and Train graph (Vlakograf) tools give you full control over schedules and train sequences, enabling precise planning and optimization.

During simulation, you can edit timetables on the fly and dynamically change train numbers (oběhy), testing how changes ripple through the network and affect reliability, throughput, and passenger experience.

The game features a fully controllable map inspired by the Prague metro system. At the moment it includes one line plus a depot, providing a focused yet authentic environment to manage operations, signaling, and service delivery.

You’ll also simulate the passenger information system and station announcements, helping passengers navigate delays, changes, and daily operations. This adds a layer of realism and pressure as you balance safety, punctuality, and service quality.

Note: MDS is currently in active development, and the list of features may evolve over time. For the latest development updates, you can join the project’s Discord server.
