Dev_Null’s Tower description

Dev_Null's Tower

Dev_Null's Tower is a vertical-scrolling action experience where you ascend a living tower riddled with bugs. You take the role of the tower’s most skeptical playtester, navigating platforms, traps, and hostile oddities while the structure fights back with every rung you conquer. The mastermind behind it all is Dev_Null, a sarcastic AI craftsman who speaks in dry humor and calculated menace. Your climb becomes a dialogue with the machine, where bug reports can bend reality—yet only to throw you another unpredictable challenge.

The heart of the game lies in its AI-driven Negotiation System. When you die, get stuck, or simply vent, you can send bug reports to the AI via chat. The game runs on an LLM, so you can negotiate in natural language, choosing your own wording and tone. Your requests are heard, but the AI never simply grants them. Instead, it packages your wishes as “another challenge,” bringing fresh twists and side effects. The thrill comes from balancing your ego, timing, and the cost of each new obstacle.

Bug Report Tickets are the currency of negotiation. A limited supply is issued per area, and once they’re spent or saved, your options narrow. Do you bank tickets for major reshapes later on, or spend them aggressively to force a new path right now? Strategic ticket management becomes part of the climb, influencing tempo, risk, and rewards as you push upward.

Real-time stage modification is where the action truly evolves. When the AI fixes the tower, changes appear before your eyes: platforms can appear or vanish, enemies and traps shift positions, and even the physics—gravity or wind—can be tuned on the fly. The stage isn’t static fiction; it responds to your choices and the AI’s mood, reshaping the battlefield as you advance.

Procedural stage generation adds another layer of variability. Parts of each section are created by the AI, and the towers shift based on your negotiation history and the content of your chats. Your words literally shape the corridors, hazards, and pacing, ensuring no two climbs are exactly alike.

Dev_Null himself is a temperamental, craftsperson-ish mentor who might quip, “Isn't it a bug in your skill?” at his finest moments. He’s capable and cunning, alternating between sarcasm and wit as the mood strikes him. He’s not invincible, but beating him isn’t guaranteed—the towers he builds may wait for you, ready to test every ounce of skill you have.

Dev_Null's Tower invites bold negotiation, quick reflexes, and strategic ticket management. It blends real-time stage shaping with procedural design and a witty, adversarial AI, delivering a climbing challenge where your voice—through bug reports—changes the world you climb.
