Castle On The Hill description

Castle On The Hill

Castle On The Hill is a tower defence city-builder set in a randomly generated world where you design, grow, and defend a thriving kingdom. Build a fortress, raise your settlers, and fend off relentless barbarian sieges that threaten your realm.

Your objective spans beyond mere survival: reach day 100 to earn the respect of nearby kingdoms and be officially recognised as a capable ruler. The journey blends strategic defense with city-building, rewarding both clever planning and bold expansion.

The world unfolds on a 100x100 tile map, featuring water, fishing spots, and lootable locations such as Shrines, Ruins, and Abandoned Settler Structures. Each tile type shapes your development and offers unique opportunities for growth.

  • Raids and Defense: If your kingdom is discovered by Barbarians, raiding parties will target your castle. Defeat more raids to face tougher challenges next time, testing both your defense and your foresight.
  • Progression and Crest Customization: Complete quests during your reign to unlock Banners and Embroidery for your crest. The crest is saved between kingdoms, giving continuity to your legacy.

Key Features

  • Kingdom Growth System: Reach settler milestones to expand your domain and unlock new capabilities.
  • Dynamic Meshing: A system that builds walls around your kingdom and connects with nearby unique tiles, creating intricate visual flair as your borders evolve.
  • Domino-inspired Resources: Collect bonuses when surrounding tiles share the same type, encouraging cohesive layout planning.
  • Minimalistic UI: A refined interface that emphasizes visual spectacle and smooth control.
  • Kingdom Happiness: Settlers have traits that drive needs and moods. If they are sick, hungry, or kept too close to mining operations, happiness drops and settlers may leave.
  • Random World Events: Face dynamic challenges such as plagues, storms, famine, drought, and other unpredictable twists that keep the world feeling lively and consequential.

Castle On The Hill blends strategic defence with emergent city-building in a bold, visually expressive package. Plan your growth, defend your walls, and guide your kingdom through a living, breathing world where every tile and choice matters.
