Tome Improvement is a cooperative dungeon crawler for 1 to 8 players where you and your friends name the spells you cast. You roam procedurally generated dungeons, catch critters along the way, and draft your magical toolkit by combining critters in your staff. When the skeletons close in, you’ll mutter or shout your own spell names, hoping the team remembers which command corresponds to what. The chaos comes from memory and mischief as much as from the enemies, making each run a test of wit, teamwork, and timing.

Craft Your Own Magic: Forget named spells like Fireball or Ice Blast. In Tome Improvement, the magic you wield is whatever you name it. By capturing critters and layering them in the staff, you unlock 34 unique spell effects. Some are devastating offensive bursts, others are supportive buffs, healing zones, or crowd-control tricks. The exact effect you unleash depends on the creature combinations you choose and the names you attach to them. The thrill comes from experimenting with unlikely pairings and from watching the results appear in real time as you unleash them into the dungeon.

Coordinate (Or Don’t): Proximity voice chat lets you yell spell names across the dungeon, which adds humor and danger as you attempt to coordinate with the group while chaos erupts. Friendly fire is always on, so careful casting matters. The same area spell that clears skeletons may also blow back a teammate or send someone flying into a pit. Trust the memory of your friends, or pray you prepared a safe chain of chants. In this game, communication is part of the strat, and mispronounced names can turn the tide of battle. Expect surprises, because even your own team’s spells can collide with your best-laid plans.

World and Play Experience: Procedurally generated dungeons keep every run fresh, with varied layouts, enemy spawns, and critter opportunities. The game features full gamepad support for seamless couch or online play, and proximity chat makes coordination feel natural even when you’re in different rooms. With up to eight players, Tome Improvement invites you to experiment, laugh, and survive together in unpredictable magical chaos.
