A Stray Line

A Stray Line is a point-and-click adventure told through visual-novel segments. You step into the shoes of Taoyi Feng, a young artist who wakes by the lakeshore to a world rewritten around her. Home, belongings, and the surrounding woodlands have altered beyond recognition, and people no longer remember Taoyi or the misfortune she believed she caused. Holes in the floor reveal nothing beneath, yet someone has granted you a clean slate. Your quest is to become worthy of forgiveness by mending broken bonds and choosing a new path forward.

The story unfolds through hand-drawn CGs and animations, set in an autumnal, pixel-art world ready for exploration and puzzle solving. Its core mechanic blends classic point-and-click drawing with intuitive inputs that work with both mouse and art tablets, inviting you to interact with environments, uncover memories, and guide Taoyi through delicate conversations and decisions.

Meet a cast that anchors Taoyi’s journey. Atlas Feng is a former big-city painter and mage who now keeps a quiet home in a forest clearing with two adoptive children, slowly recovering from injuries. Winslow Feng, Taoyi’s older sibling, brings warmth and mischief with homemade costumes and club adventures. Ilya Svetlov, known as Mr. Ilya, is Atlas’s versatile friend—gardener, driver, embroiderer, and occasional fisherman—whose many skills hint at deeper connections. The Tube arrives as an unexpected neighbor, adding mystery and texture to the neighborhood. Together, they illuminate the powerful bond between parent and child and the possibility of redemption.

Themes of forgiveness, resilience, and care thread through Taoyi’s path. The game highlights the experience of a supportive father and the healing found in small, compassionate acts—be it helping stray animals along the way or engaging with mildly strange art exhibits that punctuate the world with wonder. An undiagnosed iron deficiency adds a subtle, humanizing vulnerability to Taoyi’s journey, reminding players that strength can come from vulnerability shared with others.

A Stray Line is structured across five chapters, weaving intimate storytelling with exploratory puzzles. The prologue and chapter one will be released for free in the forthcoming demo, inviting players to step into this hopeful, emotionally rich adventure and witness how a clean slate can redefine a life.
