Echo Shift description
Echo Shift
You awaken in a cold, humming research facility with only a wrist device that you don’t remember putting on. A mysterious flush of fluorescence lights your path, and the air carries the faint scent of something burned. You don’t know your name, you don’t know how you arrived here, but you know one thing: you need to escape.
The device on your wrist records your actions as temporal echoes—ghosts of yourself that replay the last 15 seconds. These echoes aren’t mere recordings; they’re real interacting agents in the world. You can store up to three echoes, and they can press buttons, stand on pressure plates, and hold doors open while the real you moves freely. The facility was built to study time, and its notes speak of breakthroughs, disasters, and a dangerous experiment that should never have been approved.
Your goal is to piece together what happened room by room. Scattered clipboards and cryptic notes hint at a shadowy figure called Subject 47, who escaped by carving a path through this place. You may follow their footsteps or forge your own route, but every decision leaves a trace in the echoes you generate.
Core mechanic: record actions—your path, a button press, a lever pull—and have your echoes replay them exactly. You can layer up to three echoes to synchronize complex actions across the environment. Some doors require two or three buttons to be held simultaneously; in those moments your echoes keep the sequence while you advance.
The puzzles unfold across three handcrafted levels, each with a distinct visual theme and escalating difficulty. Expect timed button sequences, multi-floor coordination through elevators, stairs, and launch pads, and sequence and symbol puzzles that demand deciphering the clues left in the environment—colored buttons, symbol orders, and environmental hints guiding your choices.
There are no enemies—only you, your echoes, and rooms designed to feel impossible until you synchronize the timing just right. The experience relies on atmospheric sci‑fi ambience: abandoned corridors, humming machinery, and the echo of footsteps that aren’t yours.
Expect roughly 2–4 hours of core gameplay, with longer playtime if you hunt for every hidden note and secret. What makes Echo Shift unique is that your own past becomes your tool: the echoes are not companions or summons but manifestations of your own decisions, timing, and path through the facility. Master the echoes, master the escape.
