Rubbish Paper

You are the Boss in a chaotic academic world. Newly hired as a green pepper—an ambitious, fresh faculty member—you dream of changing science, yet you must survive first. This is a sharp, darkly humorous simulator that turns research life into a dramatic, sometimes absurd, management game.

Build your Sweatshop Lab from a bare room into a functional grindstone of discovery. Purchase everything from computers to beds and equipment, then manage more than space: you juggle the moods and fatigue of your students, plus the tangled gossip networks that secretly power your department.

Mentor—or exploit—your team. Each student brings unique skills, interests, and a private life that can shake your lab. They’ll fall in love, break up, and sometimes run into trouble: mining crypto on lab servers, or winding up in the hospital after a mishap. You’re not just their supervisor; you’re their caretaker, mediator, and gatekeeper.

Face choices that shape your career and the field itself. Go for quick, easy “Rubbish Papers” to graduate fast, or risk your reputation on the ultimate scientific challenge. Funding, publication metrics, and ethics aren’t just background noise—they steer every ending you can reach.

Rubbish Paper is a satire that pulls back the curtain on how research really happens. It treats grant budgets, author order, and editorial pressure with dark humor, showing that running a research group can feel as dramatic as steering a startup.

Your choices lead to multiple endings, each reflecting a different balance of ambition, ethics, and personal cost. Will you publish integrity over speed, or chase prestige at the expense of your people? In this world where you publish or perish, every decision matters.

Experience true academic absurdity in a game that deconstructs the process of scientific research. Rubbish Paper invites you to navigate funding, fame, ethics, and human drama—where the lab is your arena and the truth is negotiable.
