The world didn’t end in a single moment. It faded quietly, leaving behind silence, traces, and unanswered questions. ROTEN is an open‑world survival experience built on atmosphere, exploration, and environmental storytelling. The world is vast, hostile, and indifferent to your presence, inviting you to move at your own pace, choosing where to go, what to explore, and what to leave behind.

Abandoned houses, isolated roads, forgotten facilities, and remote points of interest populate the landscape. Some stories reveal themselves openly; others wait for you to pause, observe, and pay attention. There are no forced narratives or quest markers telling you what to feel. Meaning emerges from what you observe—objects left behind, frozen moments, and small details that hint at what happened, and what didn’t.

The infected roam freely. They are not puzzles or scripted encounters; they are a constant presence that shapes how you move, fight, and survive. They can block your path or remind you that noise, speed, and carelessness have consequences.

Survival is simple, but never easy. You will search locations for supplies, weapons, and vehicles, deciding when to fight, when to avoid conflict, and when to push forward. Every journey between locations carries risk, and each place you enter may offer safety, danger, or nothing at all. Some sites exist only to be passed through, while others linger with you long after you leave.

ROTEN does not rush you. It does not explain itself. The world exists whether you are watching or not.

A World That Continues to Change: ROTEN is in Early Access, designed to grow with its community. The current release lays the foundation for a living world that will expand over time through updates.

Planned additions may include new areas, more vehicles and weapons, new infected variants, wildlife, additional items and equipment, and ongoing improvements to performance, balance, and polish. Development priorities may evolve based on player feedback and technical considerations, ensuring ROTEN evolves as you explore it.
