Newman description

Newman

A lone probe crashes on a desert planet in search of resources, but the surface is corroded by exploitation and desolation. To cut a path back home, Newman, the on-board AI, unleashes the pinnacle of Newman Networks technology: the Newbot. This modular tool, composed of five replaceable parts and a distinctly human ingenuity, becomes your autonomous agent for resource extraction—and survival.

Modular Newbot

Fully replaceable parts power a wide range of configurations:

  • Head—with a universal connector to control systems and preserve communication.
  • Arms—standard grabbers plus compatible interaction appendages, from telescope hands to communication enhancers and beyond.
  • Legs—bipedal design for humanoid terrain, with potential for gravity- and propulsion-based adaptations.

Planetary Setting

PEC-8371: Planetary Exploitation Candidate is a vast, haunting world of roads to nowhere, towering ruins, and ancient stories etched into the wasteland. The map is fully explorable and handcrafted, featuring in-world landmarks and tools that reward careful exploration and knowledge—traversal is as much part of the journey as the destination.

Cooperative Experience

Newman introduces a new concept: the Fellowship Game. Built to foster collective resilience, it emphasizes cooperation and shared discovery as you face the planet’s hazards together.

Immersion and Play

Proximity voice chat lets you hear teammates plan, warn, and react in real time, enhancing the sense of presence and urgency. The game prioritizes immersion over traditional “gamey” mechanics: UI is minimal, hazards arise from systemic interactions, and progression comes from accumulating knowledge of the world.

Rewards for Curiosity

Clever use of tools, thoughtful exploration, and solving environmental challenges are rewarded. The aim is to craft a tactile, knowledge-driven adventure where curiosity and cooperation are the keys to escape.
