Cursed Cargo
Cursed Cargo drops 1–4 players into a chaotic, physics-driven online co-op that blends offbeat humor with creeping horror. You aren’t moving ordinary freight—you are escorting high-maintenance, sentient, and often terrified supernatural entities through unstable, procedurally generated environments to an Extraction Point. Each mission plants your team in a shifting maze where every step carries risk, every corner hides a surprise, and the cargo’s wellbeing determines your fate. If the cargo breaks before you reach extraction, the delivery fails and the consequences are permanent, turning failure into a lasting wound in the crew’s memory. This is survival by teamwork, improvisation, and nerve, not solo heroics.
Core Gameplay: Each run begins in a labyrinth that refuses to stay still, peppered with environmental hazards, hostile threats, and physics that can betray you in an instant. One player must physically carry the sentient cargo. This role is asymmetrical and perilous: you move slower, exhaust stamina faster, cannot use items, and instantly draw attention from every lurking danger. The rest of the team has to scout ahead, set traps, clear blocked routes, manage limited resources, and shield the carrier from threats by delaying pursuers, reviving allies, or drawing fire. Every slip, fall, collision, impact, or stray attack chips away at the cargo’s integrity, and if it reaches zero before extraction, the delivery is void and the team loses the run and perhaps a piece of its sanity. Cooperation and timing become as vital as speed, because mismanaging room layouts or underestimating a foe can doom the entire mission.
Cargo management and the Calmness mechanic: The cargo is not a passive box; it has fear, reacts to nearby events, and can lose its mind under pressure. You’ll locate and deploy found items—softening devices, lullaby trinkets, warmth, or pheromone cues—to calm the being inside, stabilize its stance, and lock down its integrity. A calm cargo is steadier, absorbs shocks better, and is less likely to lash out at you, even when the environment shakes and walls crumble. Balancing the crew’s attention between keeping the cargo tranquil and progressing toward the Extraction Point creates tense, rewarding teamwork.
Advanced stealth and escape: You’ll need to slip past monsters by hugging shadows, timing movements, and exploiting quiet corridors. The labyrinth responds to your approach with shifting rooms, hidden passages, and decoys that can mislead pursuers. A new threat waits around every corner, from ambling stalkers to swift ambushers, so patience and coordination are essential. Clear routes, plot a safe path, and keep the carrier protected while the others cover your flanks with distractions or sabotage when possible.
Ever-Changing Maps: Procedural level generation reshapes the maze on every run, delivering infinite replayability. Layouts, hazards, and enemy patterns are different each time, ensuring that danger hides in unexpected corners and routes never repeat in the same way. The physics engine adds unpredictability—objects topple, platforms tilt, and collisions alter routes—so no plan survives contact with the map untouched.
Experience the wild mix of chaotic teamwork, tense stealth, and dark humor as you balance cargo care, route planning, and defensive plays. Survive, succeed, and keep your cursed freight intact long enough to reach extraction, or watch it crumble under pressure along with the crew’s nerves.
