VAULTRATS description
VAULTRATS
The old world ended four hundred years ago. What remains are drifting ships running on rules that no longer make sense. You are Awakened: small, fast, and fragile. You and your crew depart from the NEZT into derelicts that don’t know they’re dead yet.
VAULTRATS is a cooperative extraction game for 1–4 players focused on salvage, survival, and deciding when to cut your losses. Explore procedurally generated derelicts where corridors, rooms, and hazards shift with every deployment. The deeper you go, the more you uncover—and the more unstable everything becomes.
Core loop: Scavenge, Extract, Upgrade. Recover fragments and equipment from ships, then return your haul to the NEZT. Spend fragments at the Merchant to upgrade gear for the next run, or brave the derelicts empty-handed for the thrill of the unknown.
Instability and risk: There is no stability meter. The longer you stay, the more things twist and break. The environment shifts around you and the room’s meaning can change in an instant. Learn to read the surroundings—or accept the consequences and retreat.
Your ship and crew: The NEZT is your home between runs. Customize it with unlockable furniture, gear up at the Merchant, unlock cosmetics, and deploy with your crew. Everything you build here persists across runs, giving your salvage a personal, growing footprint.
Progression and replayability: Each run is different, and your upgrades carry forward. Gather powerful fragments, outfit your crew, and push deeper into the derelicts as you balance risk and reward.
Early Access roadmap: VAULTRATS is in active development. Planned updates include new weapons, more cosmetics, expanded derelict tile variety, and deeper progression systems. Follow the ongoing development through community channels and help shape what comes next.
Prepare to salvage what you can, escape before the instability consumes you, and do it again. The derelicts wait, and every run writes a new chapter of your crew’s fate.
