His journey becomes intertwined with the mysterious Zxtabella as they pursue The Seven Alterations—tasks whose purpose and master are hidden, yet believed to point toward the legendary Faraway King. Each alteration tests resolve, and the truth behind the king waits to be uncovered as your choices steer the path.

Exploration & Mechanics

Navigate Yoom by motorbike, guided by Zxtabella’s psychic visions that highlight plausible Alterations. Locations range from a forgotten cabin in a distant town to a remote clearing in a vast woodland. You can also set a road at random and let the map reveal its secrets. As you close in on each Alteration, cinematic 3D sequences heighten mood and illuminate connections to Yoom’s mystical history. The journey emphasizes discovery, atmosphere, and choice-driven pacing over fast travel or linear progression.

Story, Choices & Subplots

Your decisions shape the destinies of J.D. and Zxtabella and influence potential endings. Along the way you’ll meet fishermen, artists, and members of a bureaucratic cult, each encounter broadening perspectives and offering moral considerations. Subplots may emerge that aren’t strictly tied to the Alterations, including a murder mystery and a town divided by culture, enriching the world without forcing a single path.

World, Visuals & Tone

The Faraway King blends surreal storytelling with atmospheric environments, rendered through Unreal Engine 5. The world responds to your choices with evolving scenes and mood, inviting you to read between the lines of history and myth. This is a narrative-driven road adventure where encounters and landscapes are as important as the objectives themselves.

Platform, Controls & Performance

Requires a PC capable of running Unreal Engine 5. Currently, keyboard and mouse are supported. If performance drops, switch to Mid graphics in Menu > Options to gain a noticeable boost with minimal visual impact.
