Gameplay
In Krieg, players strive to destroy as many opponents as possible while staying alive. Pods that move around the map provide strategic opportunities to recharge energy and health on the fly. The abundance of randomly placed obstacles ensures no two maps play the same way, preventing map memory from giving unfair advantages. Upgrades are straightforward and designed to fit within configurable loadout caps, keeping the gameplay accessible yet rewarding.
Dedicated servers
Krieg ships with a headless dedicated server system and a settings UI to customize and launch servers. The server shows essential information such as players joining and leaving, with a basic banning system and instructions. Future updates plan to add cheating detection and reasoning visibility. Server admins can tailor rounds and maps to their preference, ensuring fast, fair matches for their community.
The server settings include map-specific options: round length, round count before changing maps, and pod density. Since most maps have randomized obstacles, obstacle density is also adjustable to match desired pacing and challenge.
Development
Krieg is a solo-developed passion project, started from Brackey’s FPS tutorials and rebuilt multiple times. With roughly 8 years of development and thousands of hours invested, the game reflects a personal journey in learning Unity and C#. The creator aims to share inspiration with future developers who persevere through the learning process.
