Melter - Bad Experience description
Melter - Bad Experience
Step into a nightmare Dublin pub where depersonalisation and a shattered sense of self crash together with the grit of a late-night city. Melter - Bad Experience drops you into McGee’s Pub, a place that feels part stage, part glitch, and entirely disorienting. You awaken with almost no memory beyond a head controlling a body, surrounded by the kind of people you hope never to resemble. The world reads like a corrupted game world, and you must navigate the hostility, sticky floors, and flickering neon to begin piecing yourself back together.
What you do
Your Main Quest is clear but tough: discover who you are, find where you live, locate your bed, and learn to hide from a world that seems bent on breaking you. You’ll explore the pub as new areas unlock and bands take the stage, all while trying to stay grounded in a reality that might not be real.
Key features
- Talk to 29 NPCs, each a “head melter” with own hot takes and pint-fueled philosophies. They can mirror who you are, or who you fear becoming.
- Explore McGee’s Pub through the night as new areas open and live bands perform on stage.
- Forge a branching narrative with multiple Freak Outs as you test what it means to know yourself.
- Decide whether you can leave a lasting impression on the world, or accept that some aspects of life are programmed into The Simulation we call “Life.”
- Jump button included—a playful nod to the video game nature of existence.
Atmosphere and music
The experience is underscored by the music of cult Irish band The Deadlians, with seasonal side projects Spacers, Fools and Pumpkins. The soundtrack deepens the sense of a world that feels both intimate and unstable, like a dream you’re half awake in.
Creator’s note
Melter - Bad Experience is a personal story about depersonalisation from Scrag Games, created by Dublin-based solo developer MerkB. It’s a deliberate, unconventional narrative—often funny, sometimes brutal—crafted to tell a story you can only experience through video games. It’s a bold swing at something different, rooted in real feeling and told with a distinct, offbeat charm.
This description reflects a singular, immersive game about identity, memory, and the strange syntax of daily life—designed for players seeking a unique, thought-provoking experience.
