Gambit's Escape description

Gambit's Escape

After a long period of peace, the kingdom of Grand Plains faces a sudden threat from unknown creatures. King Gambit must abandon his castle and embark on a perilous journey across diverse lands, where danger lurks at every turn. Gambit's Escape blends Minesweeper‑inspired puzzles with card-based strategy and logical deduction, turning each stage into a chapter of the king’s story.

Core ideas unfold on every board: each card carries a value of 0, 1, or 2. Cards with 0 are villagers to save; cards with 1 or 2 are enemies to avoid or defeat. The number shown at the bottom‑right of a card represents the sum of its neighboring values. When you flip a card, its true value is revealed in the top‑left corner. At the start of a board, you see the initial sums, and when a card is focused, its neighboring cards are highlighted with dashed outlines to assist reasoning.

Your task is precise and patient: uncover all villagers (0s) while managing risk. A status display at the bottom center tells you how many villagers are still missing. Once every villager is found, the Next button appears to advance to the next board. You must use your calculations to plan safe moves and reveal the truth behind the board.

You may mark your guesses as you reason through the layout. Hover a card and open the radial menu (right‑click or controller’s right trigger) to place a mark. Use yellow for tentative guesses and red when you are certain. If you flip an enemy card (1 or 2), your sword protects you from damage; however, revealing a villager with the sword costs you 1 health point. You can carry up to two swords and recover one by saving all villagers within a round.

Gambit's Escape offers multiple ways to challenge yourself and refine your skills:

  • History Mode
  • Time Attack Mode
  • Endless Mode
  • Daily Board
  • Training Mode

Across this puzzle‑driven adventure, every decision counts. Use deduction, careful marking, and the sword mechanic to guide King Gambit to safety and uncover the next page of his storied journey.
