Al'ulA description

Al'ulA

Al'ulA is a vertically sliced indie puzzle adventure crafted by a student team over roughly seven months. It invites you into a realm where space and logic bend, and the familiar rules of geometry simply do not apply. The experience centers on perception, patience, and clever spatial thinking.

Play as Mariam, a Moroccan astronomer whose study of the stars is upended when she is pulled into a fractal dimension. The environment shifts around her in real time: staircases twist, corridors reconfigure, and non-Euclidean forms stretch the limits of what you think is possible. Your task is to navigate this changing landscape and push toward a way out.

Core mechanic: the Artifact. With this enigmatic tool you bend the world by selecting rows of tiles and rotating them in any direction. Each rotation reshapes the room—walls migrate, floors tilt, and pathways warp into new configurations. By expertly manipulating these tiles you create fresh routes, align previously disconnected areas, and reveal hidden passages that lead deeper into the mystery.

Gameplay unfolds as a sequence of spatial puzzles that demand more than quick reflexes. Observe how a single tile rotation ripples through the structure, anticipate the consequences a few moves ahead, and plan a path through shifting spaces. The puzzles reward careful observation, systematic experimentation, and creative problem solving rather than combat or brute force.

As you advance, you uncover fragments of Mariam’s past and pieces of the truth behind the place that imprisons her. Each discovery deepens the sense of intrigue and heightens the stakes as you search for a way out. An enigmatic Entity lingers in the shadows of this fractal dimension, guiding, challenging, or perhaps steering Mariam toward an unseen objective. The relationship between Mariam, the Artifact, and the dimension becomes central to the unfolding story.

Al'ulA emphasizes atmosphere, clever design, and meaningful exploration. It presents a compact game space where every rotation alters the environment and every puzzle move reshapes your options. The result is an immersive, thought-provoking experience that invites repeated play, curiosity, and persistence as you unravel the geometry of this impossible place.
