The Shell System lets you command a roster of up to three unique combat bodies, switching instantly as battles shift. Each Shell plays differently — one rushes in, another protects, a third hacks and puppeteers the fight. You don’t unlock them from a menu; you earn them by defeating the bosses that hunt you, expanding your toolbox with every victory. The goal isn’t to pick a single class but to assemble a roster that creates powerful synergies.

Build and synergy is the core. Combat is a high-speed puzzle: reflexes keep you alive, but strategy keeps you winning. Swap at the right moments, chain abilities across shells, and watch cascading damage unfold. More shells mean more possibilities and higher stakes, whether you’re playing solo or in co-op with up to two friends (three players total, six shells across the team).

Systems and progression drive every decision. Your hacker progresses with Karma, unlocking the Neural Network — a passive tree that redefines your entire roster. Each Shell develops along four skills, with two branching paths per skill that reshape how those abilities behave. The deeper you go, the more your build drifts from conventional patterns—until you’re writing your own playbook.

Loot, craft, and risk come from the Salvage tech of Rengkok. Outfit each Shell with weapons, armor, and internal implants, all drawn from its finite resources. There are no free slots, only trade-offs. Crafting can twist gear in surprising ways, increasing reward but also risk. Push farther, and the Complexity Factor climbs.
