Starlight Brigade description
Starlight Brigade
Starlight Brigade puts you in control as the Officer of the Deck (OOD) Orin Gelfrin aboard the Wayfarer, a Rostron-class light cruiser. In humanity’s twilight, you carry the captain’s trust and act as the captain’s representative, guiding a crew of fresh recruits on a dangerous voyage. After a demotion, Captain Kasper Lee Harrington’s new crew relies on you to keep the ship safe, on course, and ready for anything.
What seems like a decommissioned hull becomes your proving ground: the Wayfarer is being refitted as a long-duration pirate hunter, a proof of concept that blends old warship resilience with modern combat capability. Your ship’s future hinges on your leadership—balancing command decisions, crew welfare, and hard combat drills as you push the ship toward its uncertain destinations.
Role and Responsibilities
As OOD, you translate orders into action while coordinating with the Tactical Officer (TAO) who handles aiming railguns, loading missiles, and executing salvos. You assign targets, plan engagements, and marshal resources across a crew that includes engineers, medics, SAR teams, Marines, and galley staff. You manage crew readiness, supplies, work schedules, and morale, ensuring the ship stays combat-ready without burning out its people.
Combat and Defense
Combat unfolds in two modes: Beyond Visual Range (BVR) and Within Visual Range (WVR). You’ll hunt with drones, sensor sweeps, and stealth, or close with decisive fire once enemies are spotted. Defensive systems under the Ship Self-Defense Systems (SSDS) include ECM/ECCM, CIWS guns, missiles, and anti-missile defenses. You can deploy stealth measures, spoofing and thermal camouflage, but heat management complicates every decision: radiators must vent heat to avoid melt-down, revealing your position if overused.
Your armory spans Gauss turrets, railguns, missiles, and torpedoes, each with trade-offs in range, speed, and armor-piercing power. Anti-missile defenses like AMMs and sand casters, plus hard-kill options, shape encounters as you outthink rather than outgun the enemy. Marines support boarding actions and security, while the crew’s morale and readiness steer how effectively you fight and survive.
Operations and Modes
Beyond combat, you must repair, maintain, and protect the keel, manage heat and fuel from Z-pinch fusion, and keep the ship cohesive under pressure. Port Winston offers repairs when the keel or hull suffers, and SAR teams recover survivors and salvaged ammo to sustain operations.
Starlight Brigade offers Sandbox, Tutorial, Annihilation, and Timed-Strike modes to practice movement, combat, and fleet battles. Each run challenges you to balance aggression with restraint, keep your crew alive, and shepherd the Wayfarer to victory through a gauntlet of unknown dangers.
