Lo-Fi Memory description
Lo-Fi Memory
Lo-Fi Memory is a real-time action-roguelike deckbuilder set in a warped VHS-core city. You and every boss draw from the same evolving deck, so each card draw can power up or threaten your foe. Build your run on the fly, summon companion creatures, and tear through neon-drenched districts as memories spill back as monsters.
Combat unfolds in real time: chain melee combos, trigger cards mid-fight, and convert your deck into a live moveset of attacks, modifiers, summons, and counters. Every encounter shifts the battlefield as bosses draw from the same pool and gain new abilities—watch them evolve as your deck mutates.
Companions are the backbone of your build. Each one brings a unique card pool and set of interactions. You can upgrade companions mid-run and bring multiple partners onto the field to forge hybrid, screen-clearing strategies. Turn a single card into a game-changing engine by stacking modifiers and evolving synergies around your companions.
There’s no fixed rhythm to victory. Wild Cards let you pick mutators while the rest feed the boss, creating a shared mind game where you can steal, delay, or deny key draws. Sabotage the boss before the final fight to tilt the odds in your favor. Every draw can alter the entire fight and force you to improvise on the fly.
Run design emphasizes exploration and choice: draft powerful cards, unlock and upgrade companions, and redefine your playstyle with each run. Defeat bosses in any order to unlock new deck archetypes, then chase optional, high-risk paths for powerful, game-breaking rewards. The Boss Gauntlet awaits as the ultimate test after you complete the campaign.
Storytelling and atmosphere fuse retro aesthetics with modern gameplay. Enter a city rendered in low-poly silhouettes, two-tone shading, and hand-drawn flipbook VFX. Cutscenes unfold like degraded camcorder tapes that memory-purge and restore as you progress. Recover tapes, rewrite memories, and hunt for the girl with no face across a soundtrack that blends ’90s lo-fi grunge with alt-rock energy.
Key ideas: real-time deckbuilding combat, shared deck with bosses, evolving companion synergies, run mutations, non-linear progression, boss counterplay, and endless replayability in a VHS-core world.
