Flames of Freedom: 1821 is a 3D action side-scroller platformer set during the Greek War of Independence. It blends fast, brutal combat with precise platforming, challenging you to survive deadly runs where death is permanent but progress is not—progress is earned between runs through Flames.

Each run sends you through war-torn environments inspired by history and myth: burned villages, Ottoman forts, abandoned monasteries, ruined harbors, and dark, mystical caves. While the levels are handcrafted, the core experience emphasizes replayability, mastery, and adaptation, inviting you to learn, refine, and push deeper with every attempt.

Defeated enemies and fallen heroes leave behind Flames, a meta-currency used between runs to unlock permanent upgrades. These upgrades include secondary weapons, powerful special abilities, and Anathemas—passive effects that reshape each run. With limited upgrade slots per try, every choice matters and shapes how you approach the next run.

The story unfolds across five chapters, reimagining the Greek Revolution as a symbolic struggle between divine freedom and oppressive darkness. History and myth intertwine, turning real events into an allegory of sacrifice, resistance, and rebirth. Death is part of the journey—learn from failure, grow stronger with each Flame collected, and push deeper into a revolution where freedom is earned through fire and blood.

Playable characters each represent a facet of the revolution:

• THE EVZONE as “The Blade of Freedom” — Class: Warrior. Theme: Body, strength and honor. Fighting style: Agile, melee-focused, execution-heavy. Fast melee combat with a scimitar (palla) and pistol, available with unlocks.
• THE HOLY WARRIOR as “The Flame of Faith” — Class: Priest, battle cleric. Theme: Spirit, faith and Divine wrath. Fighting style: Slow, heavy, area control. Uses close combat and divine ranged spells, with debuffs and battlefield control unlocked over time.
• THE REBEL SCHOLAR as “The Mind of the Revolution” — Class: Noble, alchemist. Theme: Mind, knowledge and Freedom of Thought. Fighting style: Fast, fragile, with status effects and battlefield manipulation. Ultra-fast close combat with short blades and alchemical explosives unlocked through the Alchemy Book.
