War On Wheels description

War on Wheels

War on Wheels is a tactical turn‑based game of post‑apocalyptic vehicular combat where the cars are driven by physics. This is a modern reboot and modernization of a long‑running MMO, rebuilt for single‑player focus with cutting edge graphics and physics. Influenced by Car Wars, Gaslands, Interstate 76 and Autoduel, it delivers a deep, physics‑driven combat experience with streamlined, fast play and a substantial campaign.

Turn‑based physics combat

Combat unfolds in turns where every movement, acceleration, and shot has tactical consequences. Momentum, tire traction, recoil, and surface terrain shape engagements. A “ghost car” preview shows where your driver expects to be after the next second of physics‑driven movement, blending skill and vehicle dynamics for precise planning.

Vehicles and customization

Build a squad from a wide array of chassis—muscle cars, pickups, lorries, motorcycles, and more. Each vehicle combines chassis, engines, tires, armor, weight and power to create unique handling and survivability. Manage internal capacity and armor plating as you assemble specialist gangs in your garage, ready to face shifting ruins‑era economies and rival factions.

Weapons and combat realism

Arm yourself with vehicle‑mounted guns, rockets and melee rams, plus support tools such as smokescreens, dropped mines and tire‑shredding spikes. Each weapon has distinct firing rates, recoil, reloads, short and long‑range accuracy, and both direct and splash damage. The game simulates fires, bursts of accuracy against moving targets, and how fast movement alters weapon performance.

Characters, morale and risk

The crew matters as much as the machines. Characters possess leadership, courage and a robust morale system, with skills gained as they level. Expect a wide range of injuries and critical hits—over 300 potential outcomes—where injuries can be fatal, underscoring the brutal realities of your campaigns.

Setting and campaign

In 2025, solar storms shattered civilization. Surviving towns, fortresses and nomadic bands fight for scarce resources as deathracing leagues become the new sport. Mutated creatures stalk the sun‑blasted wilderness, while factions vie for control of scarce oases. The single‑player Campaign: Place of Honor places you at the head of a fledgling mercenary company. Clues to a legendary Phoenix Base—an ancient project rumored to restore humanity—reappear decades after the fall, and your choices will shape the fate of city‑states, corporations and nomads.

A legacy revived

War on Wheels carries forward a proven combat system refined over a decade, inviting both new players and veterans of the Darkwind lineage. It blends deep tactical car combat with accessible playgrounds, delivering a modern, single‑player‑first experience that respects the franchise’s heritage.
