Micrographia description

Micrographia

A sleep with no awakening. A human bone appearing inside the brain. A face frozen in unspeakable horror. These symptoms define Nightmare Sickness, a mystery with no easy fix. You play as a mercenary afflicted by this disease, cast into a nameless brutalist city where day and night blur and reality unravels as your mind edges toward collapse.

Hired by the enigmatic Eschaton Battalion to find a cure, you drift between factions you never chose to join: a vast corporation with occult ambitions, a fanatical cult, and something waiting behind your dreams — something that may be better left asleep.

Fast, brutal combat

Combat is tight, dangerous, and unforgiving. Inspired by F.E.A.R., engagements are short and lethal, demanding rapid decisions and precise aim. Enemies use tactical AI—flanking, taking cover, and communicating—so every firefight can end in seconds. Each mission demands a different approach, whether you’re fighting aboard a moving train, quelling a riot, or invading the architecture of someone’s mind.

Surreal horror atmosphere

The city blends corporate power with uncontrolled occult forces. In this world, corporations have eclipsed gods, and a creeping awakening lurks behind the veil of ordinary life. The Nightmare Sickness is both a personal curse and a gateway to something ancient and unsleeping.

Choices that shape your path

Your reality is collapsing, and the people around you may help, manipulate, or exist only inside your head. Dialogue and decisions steer the story—there is never just one way. You have total freedom of approach: violence, negotiation, or deception. Wield a wide arsenal of weapons, tools, skills, and occult powers to survive. Honor is optional; your enemies offer none.

Artistic direction

Micrographia adopts a singular visual language drawn from corporate pictograms and micrography. Characters appear as pictograms, faces are built from police composites, and typography plus dense interfaces evoke industrial signage. In this brutalist city, rain falls in letters, and every detail tells a story of control and intrusion.

Dreams, minds, and music

Dream sequences influence gameplay as the mindscape leaks into the waking world. The man in your dreams will try to lure you—do not listen. The experience is underscored by a moody soundtrack from Loïc Dutronc, shaping a tense, immersive atmosphere.

Available in French and English, Micrographia invites you to walk a razor-thin line between weapon and wonder, reality and nightmare, as you seek a cure for a sickness that might be the end of you—or the key to everything you fear.
