Evil Thing description
Evil Thing
Evil Thing is a survival horror game set inside the Fox Immortal Temple, where you play a young Shaman apprentice fighting to endure the day by day ordeal. The core concept centers on a ruthless cycle: daylight is the time to prepare, while the night brings desperate evasion and perilous confrontation.
Dual Day-Night Cycle
The world is split into two unforgiving phases. Daytime is a tense window for cleansing impurities haunting the temple, gathering and maintaining supplies, cultivating medicinal herbs, constructing facilities, and refining elixirs. You must decide how to allocate every moment, for sunlight weakens the creeping dangers and shapes your odds for the coming night. You may venture outside the gates to harvest materials, braving mist-shrouded mass graves and abandoned villages in the surrounding mountains.
Nighttime is the hunting hour. As darkness settles, Evil Things surge from the earth, drawn to the living. You’ll often be nearly powerless in direct combat, requiring stealth: hold your breath, hide, and use the faint candlelight that the immortals tolerate to mask your presence. Some guests lodging in the temple may not be human after all, offering tasks and rewards that influence your supplies and temple prestige. Choose wisely: you can complete their prayers, item searches, or revenge quests to gain precious resources or higher standing.
Combat, Exorcism, and Strategy
When you must act, you can take the initiative: expend ammunition for physical exorcism, chant sutras to liberate tormented spirits, or draw your sword to confront the Evil Things head-on. Early victories are not guarantees of safety; each night grows longer and the creatures more powerful, and comfort early on can become the poison of later stages.
Lore, Growth, and Roguelike Tension
The game is rooted in Chinese folk horror, centering on shamanic lore, ritual invoking, and demon exorcism. You encounter the Four Great Guardian Families—Huang (weasels), Bai (hedgehogs), Liu (snakes), Hui (mice)—whose presence shapes the monsters and atmosphere. Each day offers randomized supply locations, varied visitors, and strange phantoms, making every cycle unique. There is no fixed number of levels: the longer you endure the temple, the more bizarre and formidable the Evil Things become.
Your choices determine the path of survival and humanity. Will you fortify the temple and endure the Blood Moon, or will fear, dwindling supplies, and shattered resolve push you toward a grim fate? The temple awaits your decision, and the night's terrors test not only your skills but your very soul.
