Battleborn
Battleborn is a free-to-play hero shooter from the creators of Borderlands. It blends fast-paced 5v5 multiplayer battles with a diverse roster of unique heroes and a persistent progression system that rewards strategic teamwork and individual skill.
Free Trial: The Battleborn Free Trial grants unlimited access to epic 5v5 online battles with no time limits or level caps, featuring a weekly rotation among a rotating cast of heroes.
Experience a weekly rotation from 30 distinct heroes. If you fall in love with a hero, you can permanently unlock and customize favorites via in-game purchases, or upgrade to the full game to unlock all 25 original launch heroes and the Battleborn PvE story mode, or grab the Season Pass to unlock all 5 post-launch heroes and story operations.
All progression from the Free Trial—including player profiles, hero stats and masteries—carries over to the full game and Season Pass if purchased. For any individual hero purchases you’ve made, you will be refunded the in-game currency value when upgrading to the full game or Season Pass.
Multiplayer
Battleborn’s team-based multiplayer supports up to 10 players in 5v5 matches and offers several modes that emphasize cooperation, objectives, and strategic play.
- Incursion: Teams defend their base from waves of AI minions while coordinating with their own minions to overwhelm the opponent’s base.
- Meltdown: Teams guide their minions toward a central incinerator, scoring points for each minion sacrificed and aiming to outpace the other team.
- Capture: Fast-paced deathmatch where teams capture and hold map objectives to win.
- Face-Off: Battle and exterminate Varelsi to collect masks, balancing team goals with defense against opponents.
Progression and Factions
The game features a Persistent Progression System with distinct ranks and rewards. Character Rank lets a hero advance from 1 to 20 outside missions and matches, unlocking augments in the Helix skill tree and additional skins. Command Rank grows your overall profile, granting loot usable by any hero you command. Players can align with factions, including the Peacekeepers, Eldrid, Rogues, Last Light Consortium, and Jennerit Empire, each with their own lore and roles in the evolving battles.
Heroes and Helix System: Battleborn offers 30 playable heroes, each with unique personalities, weapons, and powers. The Helix System accelerates character growth, allowing a hero to scale from 1 to 20 and fully experience their arsenal within a single story mission or multiplayer match.
